In Jimmy Nelson. Humanity, the photographer passionately shares his continuous search for an art form that embraces what he experiences in the field, when he finds the perfect harmony with people, nature, light. A sense of balance that creates a symphony of experiences that analog photography, in the form of large 10×8 negatives, comes close to expressing and that allows it to channel and visually crystallize all emotions in a single instant.

Jimmy Nelson was born in England (Sevenoaks, 1967), but he traveled the world from the beginning for the work of his geologist father, spending long stays in remote parts of Africa, the Americas and Asia. As an artist, she is continually looking to meet and connect with indigenous cultures to celebrate them in their beauty and authenticity. Since his first internationally acclaimed photographs of Tibet nearly 30 years ago, Jimmy Nelson has traveled to the most hidden places on the plains.

In 2013 he published his first major photographic volume Before They Pass Away, followed in 2018 by Homage to Humanity. He has visited numerous indigenous communities around the world, developing together with some reciprocity projects through the foundation that takes his name. His complete work is on display in a traveling exhibition combining photography, video, audio and animation, entitled “The Last Sentinels: Heroes from Near and Far” and produced by Culturespace.
